The Institute of Psychiatric Medicine, Research & Rehabilitation Centre at Theni was established at Government N.R. Thiyagarajan Memorial Hospital in 2018. This created Tamil Nadu’s second Psychiatry institute after IMH Kilpauk, in 2018. The institute also trains undergraduate Medical students, Nursing, Paramedical and Psychology students in Mental Health. The institute provides 24/7 mental health care to southern Tamil Nadu districts .This is Tamil Nadu’s second Psychiatric institute after IMH Kilpauk.
