Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK)

Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) was launched in Tamil Nadu in September 2011 to improve maternal and child healthcare by ensuring that pregnant women and sick newborns receive completely free services in Government health facilities.

The programme significantly reduces out-of-pocket expenditure by providing free delivery services, diagnostics, medicines, blood, diet and transportation support.

Zero
Expense Delivery & Newborn Care
Under JSSK, pregnant women and sick neonates are entitled to free services including drugs, diagnostics, referral transport and diet during hospitalization. These benefits are also extended to sick infants up to one year of age.
