It is one of\n            the largest public health programmes reaching millions of children within a short period\n            of time and has been implemented in Tamil Nadu since <strong>2015<\/strong>.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"program-block\">\n        <p>\n            Helminths (worms) transmitted through soil contaminated with fecal matter are known as\n            <strong>soil-transmitted helminths<\/strong> (intestinal parasitic worms). Infection from\n            these worms can lead to anemia, malnutrition, impaired physical and cognitive development,\n            and reduced school participation.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Goals &amp; Objectives of the Programme<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"program-block\">\n        <p>\n            The objective of National Deworming Day is to deworm all children aged\n            <strong>1 to 19 years<\/strong>, including both school-enrolled and non-enrolled children,\n            through schools and Anganwadi centres to improve their health, nutritional status,\n            education access and quality of life.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Target Beneficiaries<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"highlight-card\">\n        <strong>All children (boys and girls) in the age group of 1\u201319 years.<\/strong>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Implementation<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"program-block\">\n        <p>\n            Bi-annual deworming is conducted every year during\n            <strong>February and August<\/strong>.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Implementing Units<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"stat-grid\">\n        <div class=\"stat-card\">\n            <strong>45,696<\/strong>\n            Government \/ Government Aided Schools\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"stat-card\">\n            <strong>12,632<\/strong>\n            Private Schools\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"stat-card\">\n            <strong>54,439<\/strong>\n            Anganwadi Centres (AWCs)\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"stat-card\">\n            <strong>2,24,37,283<\/strong>\n            Total Children Benefited\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Programme Implementation Process<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"card-grid\">\n\n        <div class=\"info-card\">\n            Teachers administer Albendazole tablets to all school-enrolled children.\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"info-card\">\n            Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) administer Albendazole to children aged 1\u20135 years and out-of-school children and adolescents.\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"info-card\">\n            Non-enrolled children are mobilized to the nearest Anganwadi Centre through support of Village Health Volunteers and community volunteers.\n        <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Dosage Schedule<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"alert-box\">\n        <strong>Important:<\/strong>\n        Children who are sick or currently taking medication on Deworming Day or Mop-Up Day (MUD)\n        should not be given the drug. They should take the Albendazole tablet after recovery or\n        after consultation with a medical doctor.\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Monitoring and Evaluation<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"timeline-list\">\n\n        <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n            RBSK Mobile Health Teams at block level monitor the implementation of National Deworming Day by visiting at least four schools or Anganwadi Centres on NDD and Mop-Up Day.\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n            District monitoring is carried out by DDHS, DTTMO, DMCHO and APM.\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n            State level monitoring is conducted by officers from Directorate of Public Health and National Health Mission.\n        <\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"timeline-item\">\n            Teams from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India also conduct random monitoring visits across schools and Anganwadi centres.\n        <\/div>\n\n    <\/div>\n\n    <h3>Recording and Reporting Process<\/h3>\n\n    <div class=\"program-block\">\n        <p>\n            Data on deworming coverage and implementation is recorded and reported through structured\n            monitoring formats to ensure accurate tracking of programme performance and coverage\n            across the state.\n        <\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Home National Deworming Day National Deworming Day is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India aimed at making every child in the country worm-free.
