Once clinical symptoms appear, rabies is almost always fatal. Timely wound washing, administration of Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV), and Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG), when indicated, can prevent the disease.<br><br>\n\nThe <b>National Rabies Control Programme (NRCP)<\/b> is implemented through National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), with the objective of achieving &#8220;Zero Human Deaths due to Dog-mediated Rabies by 2030.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"display:flex; padding:left:40px!important; justify-content:center; align-items:center;\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-07-21-at-3.14.57-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"Anemia Mukt Bharat\" style=\"width:300px;\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe programme focuses on ensuring uninterrupted availability of Anti-Rabies Vaccines (ARV) and Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG), strengthening surveillance, capacity building of healthcare workers, community awareness, and inter-sectoral coordination with the Animal Husbandry Department and Urban Local Bodies in line with the Tamil Nadu State Action Plan for Dog-mediated Rabies Elimination (SAPRE 2030).\n<h3>Objectives<\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"objective-list\">\n \t<li>Eliminate human deaths due to dog-mediated rabies by 2030.<\/li>\n \t<li>Ensure prompt and appropriate management of all animal bite cases.<\/li>\n \t<li>Provide universal access to quality Anti-Rabies Vaccines (ARV) and Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG).<\/li>\n \t<li>Strengthen surveillance and reporting of animal bite and human rabies cases.<\/li>\n \t<li>Build capacity of healthcare professionals in rabies prevention and management.<\/li>\n \t<li>Promote awareness regarding prevention, first aid, and responsible pet ownership.<\/li>\n \t<li>Strengthen laboratory diagnosis and inter-sectoral coordination under the One Health framework.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Home National Rabies Control Programme (NRCP) National Rabies Control Programme (NRCP) Rabies is a fatal yet entirely preventable viral zoonotic disease transmitted primarily through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, particularly dogs.
